10 Awesome colour schemes inspired by Jamaican businesses

I’m always looking around my environment for great use of colours, whether its on a random billboard or on a product label while shopping. This blog post contains several colour palettes I’ve collected over the years and were inspired by Jamaican businesses.

Finding a consistent colour palette is a difficult process. There’s a lot of research associated with determining the most suitable combinations for your next project.

When picking colours, you have to consider the end user’s culture, colour meanings and whether or not it’s a good fit for your niche. A common practice by many designers involves collecting colour palettes from their surroundings. This could be anything from a beautiful sunset to the brand colours of a local business.

Now, I’m not telling you to go around stealing the colours used by big companies as that could lead to lawsuits. I’m merely saying that you should use these colour schemes as inspiration when developing palettes for your next project.

Colour Schemes inspired by Jamaican Businesses

Digicel

The Digicel Group is a Caribbean mobile phone network and home entertainment provider operating in 33 markets across the Caribbean, Central America, and Oceania regions.

Flow Jamaica

Cable & Wireless Communications, now known as Flow is a Caribbean telecoms company that sells cable television, internet, telephone, and wireless services in the region. Flow is the main competitor to Digicel.

CIBC Bank

The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, commonly referred to as CIBC, is one of the "Big Five" banks in Canada. CIBC has a strong presence in Kingston, Jamaica and you can see their ATMs along Old Hope Road.

Bert's Auto Parts

Established in 1988, Bert's Auto Parts has been recognised as one of the leading Auto Parts dealers and retailers in Jamaica. Every Jamaican knows the saying "It hurts if you don't check Bert's"

Bob Marley Museum

The Bob Marley Museum is a museum in Kingston, Jamaica, dedicated to the reggae musician Bob Marley. It was home to the Tuff Gong reggae record label which was founded by The Wailers in 1970.
