We worked with Philip Clarke to design the logo and cover art for his podcast and Instagram Live show, ‘Lights, Camera: REAL LIFE’. This logo represents a new direction for the show as the audio portion of the interviews will be published via Anchor.fm to several podcasting platforms. You can listen to the programme on Spotify, Anchor, Google Podcasts and more.
Besides creating the brand identity for the show, we were also tasked with developing social media ads to promote the guest for the show’s next episode.
This project had two phases: the video version of lights, Camera: Real Life that is hosted on Instagram and the podcast version of the show that is an audio-only podcast.
The Problem
Philip Clarke wanted to create a podcast so he could deliver performance coaching advice to his followers through engaging and emotional talks with Jamaican performing artists. However, he lacked the experience in brand identity design to build one on his own.
Philip reached out to wwworkshop with these goals in mind:
Design a logo for his podcast
Design a podcast cover for Anchor FM, Spotify and Google Podcasts
Design a website page to promote his show and list current episodes Design a social media ad to promote the show to website visitors.
The Solution
Understanding the brief
We started off our project with Philip Clarke by having a discovery call over Zoom to discuss the project brief and get to know each more. Some of the key takeaways from our discussion included:
The client wanted a podcast themed logo for the podcast version of the show
The client wanted to use the Jamaican flag's colours for TV show's colour palette and blue for the audio podcast
Three social media templates for posts on Facebook, Instagram and IG Stories (TV Show)
Colour variations of the Podcast's logo for marketing
The second phase of project was where we started doing research to find inspiration and create moodboards.
We created a moodboard of popular podcasts that fit in the niche of lifestyle and interviews and identified the elements that best suited Philip's podcast. We made sure to look for podcasts that featured the host on the cover as Philip wanted his show to be instantly recognisable for his fans.
When it came to the social media templates, our goal was to be more free and energetic to match the guests' personalities. We gathered several designs that we felt matched Philip's vision and used those to craft a unique social media theme.
The Results
Podcast Logo
Philip wanted a logo design that incorporated symbols in the name of the podcast. The elements we settled on were the microphone, camera and flood light.
Podcast Cover
After several rounds of revisions, Philip Clarke decided to go with the cover art featuring himself with a stylised "P" and the name of the show in the bottom right section. The cover photograph was provided by an independent photographer not associated with wwworkshop.
TV Show
The TV show verison of Lights, Camera: Real Life which was hosted weekly on IGTV featured a brighter colour palette based on the Jamaican flag. We created three versions of the templates for use on Facebook, Instagram and IGTV. The social media posts featured the time and date of interview, the channel hosting it and the episode number for easy tracking.
